The Romanian director Andrei Serban started his career in theatre and achieved international fame working in both the avant-garde experimental field: at La Mama in New York, Peter Brook’s CIRT in Paris and the more established institutions like Lincoln Center, Comedie Francaise and London National Theatre. He was invited to direct opera productions by all the major American houses including the Met, NY City Opera, Chicago, San Francisco, Huston, Los Angeles, Vancouver, as well as European ones: London, Paris, Vienna, Geneva, Zurich, Venice, Amsterdam and Genova, among others. He also served as General Director of the National Theatre in Bucharest and was for a long time the Director of the Acting Program at Columbia University’s School of the Arts in New York. This is his first work at the Israeli Opera.
